My name is Marco Lueck and I’m the founder of Water Dragon Arts. I want to inspire and support each individual on their journey of self-cultivation through the ancient Chinese martial and healing arts. Unify body, mind & spirit by practicing Taijiquan (Tai Chi) and Qigong (Chi Kung). I promote the internal arts and hold space for sharing of personal experiences, knowledge and progress within this community. I place particular importance on an authentic and demystified teaching method, without much esotericism. Of course, I am still on my own personal journey within the internal arts and will remain a student for the rest of my life.
With my written resources, the teaching material in the academy and the courses, I want to offer everyone the opportunity to take their health and well-being into their own hands. Given the vast nature of the internal arts, I only teach up to a certain level of expertise which is aligned with my personal accomplishments. This way I can ensure a reliable teaching method that will produce real results. Although this scope might change as I proceed along my personal journey, within the Water Dragon Arts academy I mainly focus on teaching the fundamentals of Qigong and Yang Taijiquan. I’m happy to guide you through this content to develop a strong foundation for successful and effective practice.
Marcos discovery of the holistic healing arts and techniques for self-cultivation began in 2015. While traveling the globe with only a small backpack he discovered yoga and ended up living in an intentional yoga community in Central America. He studied Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, including various other meditation techniques and pranayamas. During this time he came across the 7-Star Temple in Guatemala where he learned Taijiquan and Qigong for the first time. The ancient Chinese arts started a fire within and since then, the study of Qigong and internal martial arts is playing a large role in his life.
Throughout the next years he studied in China under Shifu Qu Hai who is a master of Taijiquan, the “Taiji Plum Blossom Mantis Fist” (Taiji meihua tanglangquan) including other internal styles like Xingyiquan and Baguazhang. The emphasis of his training in China was Qigong to increase internal power and Taijiquan (Yang & Chen). During his full-time training he learned various sets of Qigong for health purposes like the 5 animal frolics and the 8 pieces of brocade but also traditional Chinese massage.
In 2018 Marco began to study under Master Wang Gang who learned Daoism Kungfu from Master Luo Jufang, heirs of the Lata style of Daoism. Master Wang taught him the traditional method of the Daoist Yijin Jing from Tiantai Shan (Tongbai Gong) and Neigong. In 2019 his master Qu Hai granted him permission to teach Yang style Taijiquan and Qigong. When Marco left China that year, he started teaching in Australia and New Zealand while maintaining an intensive daily practice and another full-time job. In 2020 Marco returned to Germany due to the pandemic. He began teaching his knowledge in his local city and started his online academy. The journey of the internal arts is one of a lifetime. Even after 5 years of training Marco feels like he’s only scratching the surface. He is teaching his skills up to a certain level of development which is aligned with his personal accomplishments. Meanwhile he continues to be a student of these arts himself.
“Taijiquan and Qigong are practices for a lifetime. Let us learn from each other and pass on the knowledge so that others may benefit from it as well. Let us enrich our lives with meaning and purpose and practice to be a better, stronger and healthier version of ourselves each day.”
- Marco
